Thunderbird (IMAP & SMTP over SSL)

To configure Thunderbird to send and receive email using our servers via IMAP and SMTP over SSL/TLS, please follow the steps below. Please replace:

username@example.com with your email address
your_server.com with your server's host name (you can find your server's host name listed in the upper left corner of your Control Panel)






1. Open Thunderbird.

2. Choose "Tools" -> "Account Settings".

3. Click "Account Actions" -> "Add Mail Account..."

4. In the "Your Name" field you should enter the name you would like to appear on the messages you send. Enter your email address user@example.com in the "Email address" field. Enter your mail password in the "Password" field. Mark the "Remember password" checkbox.

Click on the "Continue" button.

5. Thunderbird is going to perform some checks (this might take some time). Click "Manual config" once they are complete.

6. Make sure that the Incoming mail server is set to "IMAP".

Update "Username" to match your mail address.e

Change the incoming mail server to "mail.your_server.com".

Change the port for the incoming server to 993.

Change "STARTTLS" to "SSL/TLS" for the incoming server.

Change the outgoing mail server to "mail.your_server.com".

Click "Re-test". Thunderbird will test your settings again. When the test is complete, click "Done".

7. Click "Tools" -> "Account Settings" -> "Server Settings" -> "Advanced".

8. In the "IMAP server directory" field enter the following value in capital letters: INBOX

Click on "OK".
